L’Hotel – Paris, France
The Hotel – L’Hotel is the most famous hotel on the Left Bank. Originally a Pavillion d’Amour, it has played home and host to many of the most famous names of the last two centuries. Enviably nestled amongst the capital’s leading art galleries, bookshops and boutiques, it is 100m from the Place St. Germain with its cafes and high fashion. There are just 20 rooms leading off the stunning spiral staircase, with a bar and restaurant downstairs; there is a private swimming pool for 2 and steam room in the old cellars. It is also home to Le Restaurant, the capital’s “Rising Star”. L’Hotel is Paris in a single building.
The Room – L’Hotel’s 20 rooms lead off the spectacular and famous central stairwell. Each room has its own exuberant, opulent style. The rooms are graded according to size, and in some cases view.
The Restaurant and Bar – Philippe Belissent, previously sous chef at the three Michelin starred restaurant Ledoyen, took over the kitchen at Le Restaurant in 2005. His food is stunning: light seasonal and perfectly balanced. Philippe is one of Paris’ brightest “Rising Star”. The restaurant is open everyday except Sunday and Monday. The Bar at L’Hotel captures the charm and discreet glamour of the Left Bank. It’s a favourite haunt of artist, film stars and hip Parisians.
The Location – L’Hotel is in the heart of the Left Bank, the artistic and cultural centre of Paris. The local streets are filled with art galleries. A couple of minutes’ walk brings you to the Boulevard St Germain with its boutiques, designer shops and famous cafes such as Les Deux Magots.
Other Things We Do – L’Hotel is part of A Curious Group of Hotels (ACGH): Cowley Manor in the rolling hills of the English countryside, and the Corner Club in Oxford.
