The Family of The Counts Degenfeld
The family of the Vounts Degenfeld of German-Hungarian descent played an important role in the history of Toka-Hegyalja. In 1994 the fail decided to revive the Grof Degenfeld wine-growing estate and acquired first-class vineyards and an old cellar in Tarcal near Tokaj. The family feels bound to the tradition of Tokaj and guarantees excellent wine quality with their name. in 2000 the family started investments and bought back the Degenfeld Palais which is located at Tokaj’s main square. After entire renovation and renewed of the Palais a conference centre was built up which opened in May 2001. the centre is a popular place with its outstanding restaurant for tourism as well as for business and private events. In 2003 the renovation of Grof Degenfeld Castle Hotel was completed. The beautiful building reflects inside the atmosphere of monarchy and adapts extremely well to the surrounding vineyards and the new processing facility.

Hotel
The air-conditioned Castle Hotel is romantically situated in the middle of ancient trees in the beautiful park of the winery on the Theresia hill. It is the reconstruction of a historical mansion and offers its guests 20 double rooms and one suite. The atmosphere of monarchy combined with today’s comforts and the natural silence captivate our guests’ hearts. The well-trained staff guarantees first-rate hospitality in homely atmosphere. Additional service: outdoor swimming pool, sauna, fitness room. 2 tennis courts with floodlights, guarded car parking, 24-hour-porter, organization of leisure activities, restaurant, wine cellar, sun terrace, salon, library, conference centre, laundry, childcare, central safe, bicycle hire service.
Room – The rooms are equipped with Empire furniture and fascinate with their fabric and colour harmony. Mini bar, satellite television, telephone and internet access are available in each room.
Salon, Library – The salon and the library are located on the ground floor and are equipped with antique furniture, old paintings and Venetian chandeliers reflecting the atmosphere of the 19th century. The beautiful and comfortable armchairs beside the marble fireplace invite you to relax with a glass of Tokaj wine. In the library our guests like to read in the antique books.
Swimming pool, Tennis court – The heated swimming pool which is opened from May until October is located in the park of Grof Degenfeld Castle Hotel and provides a restful time off. In addition we offer a sauna, a fitness room, a bar, a sun terrace and spacious changing rooms in the nearby pool house. For sporty guests two tennis courts are available. The covering made of Recortan™ is suitable for international tournaments and gentle to your ankles. The tennis courts can also be booked subject to payment by persons who are not hotel guests.

Gastronomy
The elegant restaurant looking to the adjacent park has room for 45 persons. The restaurant as well as the sun terrace and the unique cellar for approximately 40 persons expect the guests with exquisite delicacies and excellent wines. The side room can be looked for business and private events as well as for receptions which set high standards. Our guests are able to choose among genuine culinary specialities. They will find a gourmet cuisine, the best Tokaj wines, personal wine advice and an attentive staff. The chef prepares international and national dishes.
